Upper Academy Courses
Ancient Paths Christian and Classical Academy offers select university model courses for students 8th-12th grade. These courses are designed to provide homeschool families with individualized classroom instruction. Students enrolled in these courses are welcome and encouraged to use our building space for study throughout normal school hours and participate in the life of the school. There is a one time $200 enrollment fee and $100 application fee for new students. Tuition discounts are available for students enrolling in every course. Algebra II
Cost: $1,200
Ancient Paths’ Algebra II mathematics course will incorporate time tested approaches to classroom instruction. Students will build on previously developed skills in Algebra I. Students will further their understanding and ability to graph linear functions, linear equations, linear inequalities, solve systems of equations, polynomials and polynomial functions. Embedded geometry instruction, trigonometry concepts, statistics, and applications for other subjects such as physics and chemistry are also included. Students will and by the end of the year will be prepared to succeed in standardized college preparatory tests, and to begin Advanced Mathematics (pre-calculus).
Enrollment in this course requires a student to complete a readiness assessment prior to the start of the school year or to have completed Algebra I at Ancient Paths.
Christendom II
Cost: $800
The Ancient Paths Christendom courses are devoted to the study of Christ’s reign today and throughout history. Christ established His church as the means to further and build His Kingdom by the faithful preaching of His Word, the proclamation of His Gospel, and the obedience of Christians working out their faith. Christendom courses focus on biblical studies, Church history, orthodoxy, and orthopraxy. The Christendom II scope of study will include biblical studies Old Testament history, the creeds and confessions, and the history of the church throughout the middle ages.
Omnibus II
Cost: $1,500
Omnibus is a Latin term which means relating “to all.” Ancient Paths’ Omnibus II course is a guided scope of study through the middle ages. In this integrated humanities course, students will study some of this period’s most influential works and be challenged to interpret philosophy, history, theology, and literature through a distinctly Christian worldview. Students will be assigned a significant amount of reading outside of class and will be expected to diligently keep pace while comprehending and discussing the assigned texts. Students will also be challenged to complete numerous writing assignments, both properly formatted academic essays and imitative progymnasmata exercises.
Students enrolled in this course will read through works by Athanasius, Eusebius, The Venerable Bede, Geoffrey of Monmouth, Geoffrey Chaucer, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dorothy Sayers, and William Shakespeare.
American Founding: Civics 1
Cost: $600
American Founding and Civics I uses the Hillsdale 1776 curriculum to guide our students through a study of our nation’s founding documents and governmental structure. Our students will learn the history of the United States; commit to memory some of the key writings from our founding fathers, while also learning some of the underlying philosophies of those writings. This course demands student maturity while interacting with a variety of topics and content matter, which will present itself in the selected works.
